Services > Engaging Culture > What is "digital culture?"

Digital culture is what is emerging in our society. The term comes from one of our favorite books, The Millennium Matrix, by Rex Miller.
In the book, Miller surveys much of written history and points out how our communication methods define our world view. He demonstrates how every change in communication threw society into a brief period of upheaval as people grasped at understanding their new world. Miller then catches up to the present, where new information is available every day and the internet is rapidly expanding and redefining our world.
In every "age" that Miller identifies, the Church has to adapt in order to effectively communicate the gospel, and part of that change is played out in church architecture. From Gothic cathedrals to low-key, traditional church buildings to auditoriums of all sizes with professional lighting and sound systems.
We recognize that our society is at the point of making another dramatic shift, so we are diligent students of culture. Rather than follow the trend, we want to help the Church jump the curve. We are studious about watching culture so we can predict what's next and design church facilities that will be ready.
